The Gun Fight Continues

March 20, 2009 at 10:17 am by: John Phillips

On February 24, 2009, I did a post about the court challenge to a last-minute rule signed by President Bush allowing visitors to national parks and wildlife refuges to carry concealed weapons. According to the Washington Post, a district court judge has issued a preliminary injunction, putting the rule on hold. Interestingly, the judge’s decision was based, in large part, on whether the Bush Administration wrongfully failed to consider the rule’s environmental impact on parks and refuges.

Maybe when considering all the proposed gun laws there are out there (some of which impact the workplace), state legislatures should be required to consider the laws’ environmental impact. And I’m not talking about an impact on air, water, animals, and vegetation. I’m thinking more in terms of the impact guns have on people.
