The Yankees and A-Rod
It appears the Yankees and Alex Rodriguez have a deal. Check out the article below in the New York Times.
As discussed in previous posts, George Steinbrenner has taught us some valuable HR lessons.
Another lesson worth remembering is that after George and Alex seemed to be walking away from each other, they decided to simply talk without the intercession of agents and lawyers. If you really want to work something out, that’s the way to do it sometimes. That’s not to say that before you have the heart-to-heart you don’t get advice from your lawyer. It is to say that working out an employment problem may be more easily accomplished by getting away from the noise that’s been generated by both sides, talkfing privately about what both sides want, and then determining if an agreement is possible.
